The Best Bars in Kythera

“Koukos” as a location is really hard to beat. It rests inside a hairpin of the road that connects Chora and Kapsali offering a grandiose view of the Castle and the Myrtoon Sea. Friendly “no-frills” ambience and service, a vast and affordable  selection of drinks and -of course! – interesting and vibrant music. With selections ranging from Jerry Lee Lewis to Radiohead, Syd Barret to Mogwai, Cramps to Cranberries, Ramones to Archive, The Banshees to The National, our dj aims to provide an “electric” soundtrack to a peaceful environment.

Astikon: The most popular café/bar of the island was established in 1908. Here, in “Astikon” you will enjoy a cup of coffee, a soda or a cocktail. You will taste a variety of appetizers, accompanied with ouzo, or tsipouro (a type of local alcoholic beverage), sweets, and a variety of ice-cream flavours. Events with poetry and music, movie projections and art exhibits. You are at the central meeting point of the island!

Arachtopolion: In the lovely 2nd bay of Avlemonas, Arachtopolion is just the café/bar that combines excellent music, lovely sea view, and lovely homemade sweets.

Mercato: In the heart of Chora, the capital of the island, Mercato Bar operates for 25 years. Lovely selection of Latin Soul Funk and Jazz scene, but also modern alternative Greek and Rock songs and frequently Live appearances, “Mercato” constitutes the diachronic jewel in the nightlife of the island.
